- Essential Insights for IT Career Management

A Round-Table Discussion with Industry Specialists from Microsoft, Goldman Sachs & Hartford Life.

This special discussion will cover the current IT job market, where it is going, and how you can best prepare yourself and make yourself marketable both here in Japan and globally. Recruiting top talent has always been an important objective of top management, and creative recruitment strategies are essential for finding, attracting, and hiring the best talent to achieve management objectives. This event will provide a wealth of IT recruitment knowledge, and insights into the recruitment strategies of three market leaders. The topic will be of great interest to managers, to human resource departments, and to individuals looking to proactively manage their careers.

Each speaker will make a 10 minute presentation covering a specific topic, and then the discussion will be opened for audience participation.


SPEAKERS

Presenter: James Ryland, Recruiting Group, Human Resources, Microsoft Japan
Presentation: 'Finding Your Potential at Microsoft Japan'
James has over 5 years experience in Human Resources in Japan, starting at a small IT recruitment company, before joining a telecom start-up where his main focus was recruiting. James is a Masters graduate from the School of East Asian Studies at Sheffield University in the UK, and has been working in Japan in some form since 1996.

Presenter: Lyle Andrews, Regional Recruitment Manager, Goldman Sachs Asia (seconded from Resource Solutions)
Presentation: 'Diversity recruitment in Japan: building a long-term local candidate pipeline'
Lyle has 6 years of recruitment experience on both the agency and the in-house sides. He has worked in Japan for over 8 years and has experience working for Japanese companies in the UK. He is responsible for all lateral and contingent recruiting across Goldman Sachs Asia and directly recruits for the Technology Division.

Presenter: Andrew Bishop, Staffing & Vendor Manager, Business Technology Department, Hartford Life Insurance K.K.
Presentation: 'Recruiting success- growing a Technology department from 120 to 300 staff in one year'
Andrew Bishop is responsible for overseeing staffing for the Business Technology Department, which comprises of 130 full time staff and 170 contracted vendor staff. In addition, he is responsible for employee training and development and talent management for the department. Andrew has a background in the IT staffing industry, and has lived and worked in Japan since 1998.
