President's Message / 2007, December

Darren

Dear Friends of ICA:

Thank you all for making the IT Job Market  panel discussion on November 21 a great success. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of attendees and by the quality of the food and drinks that were available. ICA VP of Publicity Paul Roberts was largely responsible for organizing our panel of speakers and creating an informative and practical event. The biggest thanks should go to our panelists James Ryland, Lyle Andrews, and Paul St. George—and their respective organizations—for the informative presentations.

While we don’t have any events until next year, our members can look forward to a joint Shinnenkai with the ACCJ in January. ICA attendance has grown in the past year, most likely due to the variety of topics covered.
Some of our other popular recent events have included:

* Creating Winning Presentations by Robert Burnside of Empowr

* Japan Success Story by Tim Williams of ValueCommerce

* Practical Network Security by Richard S. Keirstead of Ascendant Business Solutions

All of these topics were exclusive to the ICA—and they brought in more people outside of IT, which is very healthy for our professional community.

We’ve also been working on venues for our events, and have been pleased to find some that offered free drinks.

Tokyo Metropolis has just run a Dec. 7 feature on ICA.

Sincerely,

Darren McKellin / Timothy Trahan (VP Sponsorships)
