Cloud Computing Enables   Consumer-Centered Healthcare

Speaker: E. Sasahara with D. McGuire
& H. Iwashita

Profile: Sasahara

Broadband Internet technologies and social media are empowering patients and their loved ones, however significant regulatory, compliance, and personal-information-protection problems need to be solved to enable wide adoption of cloud computing by the healthcare industry. Our October presentation will give ICT professionals a managerial perspective on trends in cloud computing and consumer-centered healthcare, with a focus on governance, risk and compliance (GRC) management. Some practical case studies will also illustrate the business potential of developing strategic alliances between ICT professionals and healthcare entrepreneurs, to utilize cloud computing in healthcare.

Our Speaker, Dr. Eiji Sasahara, holds a BA from Keio University, an MBA from Boston University, and a Ph.D. in Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences from Chiba University. He is an individual member of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ), interested in perspectives of Healthcare ICT and Legal/eDiscovery. Currently, he is focusing on raising awareness and promoting initiatives for utilizing Cloud Computing in the Japanese healthcare industry. Dan McGuire and Hitoshi Iwashita will also contribute to this presentation (PDF: ICA cloud).
